Biography of Jelisaweta Grigorjewna Gilels

Jelisaweta Grigorjewna Gilels (* 30. September 1919 in Odesa; † 13. March 2008 in Moscow) was a sowjetisch-ukrainische Geigerin. She was 88 years old. She was married to Leonid Borissowitsch Kogan. She studied at Odesa National Music Academy. She worked at Moscow Conservatory. Her awards include Order of the Badge of Honour and Merited Artist of the RSFSR. She was buried at Novodevichy Cemetery.
