Betty Friedan (* February 4, 1921 in Peoria; † February 4, 2006 in Washington, D.C.) was an american feminist writer and activist. She was 85 years old. Her education included Smith College, University of California, Berkeley, Esalen Institute and Peoria High School. Her awards include Humanist of the Year and National Women's Hall of Fame. Her cause of death was heart failure. She was buried at Sag Harbor Jewish Cemetery.
