Cy Twombly (* April 25, 1928 in Lexington; † July 5, 2011 in Rome) was an american painter, sculptor and photographer. He was 83 years old. His education included Black Mountain College, Art Students League of New York, Washington and Lee University, School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Darlington School and Aiglon College. His awards include Goslarer Kaiserring, Praemium Imperiale and Rubenspreis. His cause of death was cancer.
