Edgar Mitchell (* September 17, 1930 in Hereford; † February 4, 2016 in West Palm Beach) was an american astronaut. He was 85 years old. His education included Massachusetts Institute of Technology, U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School, Carnegie Mellon University, Naval Postgraduate School, United States Naval Academy and Artesia High School. His awards include Presidential Medal of Freedom, United States Astronaut Hall of Fame and International Space Hall of Fame. His cause of death was kidney cancer. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
