He was married to Jacqueline Porel and Marie Daëms. He had at least 1 child (1 son). He studied at Cours Simon. His awards include Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres, BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role and Prix du Brigadier. His cause of death was myocardial infarction. He was buried at Passy Cemetery.
