Biography
Fred Lawrence Whipple (* November 5, 1906 in Red Oak; † August 30, 2004 in Cambridge) was an american astronomer. He was 97 years old. His education included University of California, Berkeley, University of California, Los Angeles and Occidental College. He received 10 awards, including Henry Norris Russell Lectureship, Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society.
