Giya Kancheli (* August 10, 1935 in Tbilisi; † October 2, 2019 in Tbilisi) was a soviet and Georgian composer. He was 84 years old. His education included Tbilisi State University and Tbilisi State Conservatoire. His awards include Order of Honour, Shota Rustaveli State Prize and Wolf Prize in Arts. He was buried at Didube Pantheon.
