Gil Scott-Heron (* April 1, 1949 in Chicago; † May 27, 2011 in New York City) was an american soul and jazz poet, musician, and author. He was 62 years old. He was married to Brenda Sykes. He had 4 children. His education included Johns Hopkins University, Lincoln University, DeWitt Clinton High School and Ethical Culture Fieldston School. His awards include Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His cause of death was death from AIDS-related complications. He was buried at Kensico Cemetery.
