Ion Iliescu (* March 3, 1930 in Oltenița; † August 5, 2025 in Bucharest) was a president of Romania (1990–1996; 2000–2004). He was 95 years old. He was married to Nina Iliescu. His education included Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Politehnica University of Bucharest and Lomonosov Moscow State University. His faith was freethought. He received 4 awards, including Collar of the Order of the Star of Romania, Order of Faithful Service. His cause of death was lung cancer.
