Jacob Lawrence (* September 7, 1917 in Atlantic City; † June 9, 2000 in Seattle) was an african American painter and art professor. He was 82 years old. He was married to Gwendolyn Knight. He studied at Pratt Institute. He received 4 awards, including Guggenheim Fellowship, Spingarn Medal. His cause of death was lung cancer.
