James Stockdale (* December 23, 1923 in Abingdon; † July 5, 2005 in Coronado) was an uS Navy admiral and aviator. He was 81 years old. He was married to Sybil Stockdale. His education included Monmouth College, United States Naval Academy, Stanford University and United States Naval Test Pilot School. His awards include National Aviation Hall of Fame and White House Fellows. His cause of death was Alzheimer's disease. He was buried at United States Naval Academy Cemetery.
