Junko Tabei (* September 22, 1939 in Miharu; †October 20, 2016 in Kawagoe) was a japanese mountain climber. She was 77 years old. She had 2 children. Her education included Kyushu University and Showa Women's University. She was awarded the NHK broadcasting culture award. Her cause of death was stomach cancer.
