Kalpana Chawla (* March 17, 1962 in Karnal; † February 1, 2003 in Texas) was an american astronaut. She was 40 years old. Her education included Punjab Engineering College, University of Colorado Boulder, Tagore Baal Niketan Sr. Sec. School, Karnal and University of Texas at Arlington. Her faith was Hinduism. Her awards include Order of Merit (Ukraine), 3rd class and NASA Space Flight Medal. She was buried at Zion National Park.
