Miriam Makeba (* March 4, 1932 in Johannesburg; † November 9, 2008 in Castel Volturno) was a south African singer and civil rights activist. She was 76 years old. She was married to Stokely Carmichael and Hugh Masekela. She had at least 1 child (1 daughter). She received 5 awards, including Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres‎, Polar Music Prize. Her cause of death was myocardial infarction.
