Pietro Mennea (* June 28, 1952 in Barletta; † March 21, 2013 in Rome) was an italian sprinter and politician. He was 60 years old. His education included University of Bari, University of Salerno and D'Annunzio University of Chieti–Pescara. He received 4 awards, including Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. His cause of death was pancreatic cancer. He was buried at Cimitero Flaminio.
