Sérgio Vieira de Mello (* March 15, 1948 in Rio de Janeiro; † August 19, 2003 in Baghdad) was a brazilian UN diplomat and humanitarian aid officer. He was 55 years old. His education included University of Fribourg, Faculty of Arts of Paris, University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne, Lycée Molière de Rio de Janeiro and Lycée français Chateaubriand. His awards include United Nations Prize in the Field of Human Rights and Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun of Peru‎. He was buried at Cemetery of Kings.
