He was married to Antonella Bechi Piaggio and Allegra Caracciolo. He had at least 3 children (3 sons). His education included University of Catania and University of Turin. He was awarded the Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. His cause of death was lymphoma. He was buried at cemetery of Villar Perosa.
