William C. McCool (* September 23, 1961 in San Diego; † February 1, 2003 in Texas) was an u.S. Navy Commander, NASA astronaut and the pilot of Space Shuttle Columbia which was destroyed during re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere in 2003. He was 41 years old. His education included United States Naval Academy, Naval Postgraduate School, United States Naval Test Pilot School, Coronado High School and John F. Kennedy High School. He received a total of 3 awards. He was buried at United States Naval Academy Cemetery.
