Aare Mäemets (* 18. January 1929 in Tallinn; † 24. November 2002 in Elva) was an estonian hydrobiologist, zoologist, limnologist, ecologist and nature photographer. He was 73 years old. He was married to Aime Mäemets. He had at least 1 child (1 son). He studied at University of Tartu. He was awarded the Order of the White Star, 3rd Class. He was buried at Elva cemetery.
