Alan Hovhaness (* March 8, 1911 in Somerville; † June 21, 2000 in Seattle) was an armenian-American composer. He was 89 years old. His education included New England Conservatory, Tufts University and Arlington High School. His awards include Guggenheim Fellowship and Arts and Letters Award in Music.
