
Geographer and historian (1936-1991)
Basheer Nijim (* 13. September 1936 in Tulkarm; † 11. February 1991 in Cedar Falls) was a geographer and historian. He was 54 years old. His education included Al-Fadiliya School, Augustana College and Indiana University Bloomington. He worked at Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, University of Northern Iowa, American University of Beirut, Shaanxi Normal University and Hebei Normal University. His faith was Christianity. He was awarded the National Council for Geographic Education Higher Education Distinguished Teaching Award. His cause of death was brain tumor.
