He was married to Eleni Meleagrou and Carol Blue. His education included University of Oxford, The Leys School and Balliol College. He received 6 awards, including Richard Dawkins Award, PEN/Diamonstein-Spielvogel Award for the Art of the Essay. His cause of death was esophageal cancer.
