Fazil Iskander (* March 6, 1929 in Sukhumi; † July 31, 2016 in Peredelkino) was a soviet and Russian writer. He was 87 years old. He studied at Maxim Gorky Literature Institute. He received 8 awards, including A. S. Pushkin Award, Order "For Merit to the Fatherland", 2nd class. His cause of death was cardiac arrest. He was buried at Novodevichy Cemetery.
