Gérard Genette (* June 7, 1930 in 20th arrondissement of Paris; † May 11, 2018 in Ivry-sur-Seine) was a french literary theorist. He was 87 years old. He was married to Raymonde Debray-Genette. His education included École Normale Supérieure, Faculty of Arts of Paris and Lycée Lakanal. He was awarded the Officer of Arts and Letters.
