Giuseppe Sinopoli (* November 2, 1946 in Venice; † April 20, 2001 in Berlin) was an italian conductor and composer. He was 54 years old. His education included University of Padua, University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Accademia Musicale Chigiana and Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello di Venezia. His awards include Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, Echo Klassik – Conductor of the Year and Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. His cause of death was myocardial infarction. He was buried at Campo Verano.
