Gregor Mendel (* 20. July 1822 in Hynčice; † 6. January 1884 in Brno) was a österreichischer Mönch und Genetiker. He was 61 years old. His education included Palacký University Olomouc and University of Vienna. He worked at St Thomas's Abbey in Brno. His faith was Catholic Church. He was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Franz Joseph. His cause of death was kidney failure. He was buried at Tomb of the Augustinian order at the Central Cemetery in Brno.
