
(1820–1888) Born in London. Sailed to New Zealand in the 'Amelia Thompson', with his brother William Halse (1816-1882). Arrived in New Plymouth in 1841. Began farming, but in 1846 he entered the Civil Service. Licensed interpreter, 1868 and 1882.

Arrived in New Plymouth in 1841. Began farming, but in 1846 he entered the Civil Service. Licensed interpreter, 1868 and 1882.. He was 68 years old. He was buried at Bolton Street Memorial Park.
