Howard I. Chapelle (* 1. February 1901; † 30. June 1975 in Lewes) was an american naval architect, curator of maritime history at the Smithsonian Institution, and author of books and articles on maritime history and marine architecture. He was 74 years old. He worked at Smithsonian Institution. He was awarded the Guggenheim Fellowship.
