Hugh Atkinson (* 27. November 1933 in Chicago; † 24. October 1986) was an american librarian known for his innovations in library automation. He was 52 years old. His education included University of Chicago and University of Chicago Graduate Library School. He worked at Widener University, University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign and University at Buffalo. He was awarded the Library Hall of Fame.
