Biography of Ian Leggat

Ian Leggat (* 22. April 1929 in New Plymouth; † 25. July 2025 in Christchurch) was a new Zealand teacher and university chancellor. He was 96 years old. His education included Southwell School, New Plymouth Boys' High School, Hutt Valley High School, Gisborne High School, University of Auckland and Emory University. He worked at Rangiora High School, Cambridge High School, Former site of Shirley Boys' High School, Christchurch Teachers' College, Hagley College, Christchurch Boys' High School and University of Canterbury. His awards include Companion of the Queen's Service Order, honorary doctor of the University of Canterbury and Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
