Biography
James A. Van Allen (* September 7, 1914 in Mount Pleasant; † August 9, 2006 in Iowa City) was an american astrophysicist. He was 91 years old. He had 5 children. His education included University of Iowa, Iowa Wesleyan University and Mount Pleasant Community High School. He received 9 awards, including Guggenheim Fellowship, Elliott Cresson Medal. His cause of death was heart failure. He was buried at Southampton Cemetery.
