He studied at École Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot. He received 10 awards, including Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts. He was buried at Cemetery of Santa Isabel, Aranjuez.
