John G. Avildsen (* December 21, 1935 in Oak Park; † June 16, 2017 in Los Angeles) was an american film director. He was 81 years old. He was married to Tracy Brooks Swope. His education included New York University, Hotchkiss School and Indian Mountain School. His awards include Directors Guild of America Award and Academy Award for Best Director. His cause of death was pancreatic cancer.
