Jonas Salk (* 28. October 1914 in New York City; † 23. June 1995 in La Jolla) was a jewish-American inventor of polio vaccine. He was 80 years old. He was married to Françoise Gilot. His education included University of Michigan, City College of New York, New York University, Grossman School of Medicine and Fanny Edel Falk Laboratory School. He received 10 awards, including Jawaharlal Nehru Award for International Understanding, Presidential Medal of Freedom. His cause of death was heart failure. He was buried at Los Angeles.
