Jože Toporišič (* 11. October 1926 in Mostec; † 9. December 2014 in Ljubljana) was a slovene linguist. He was 88 years old. He studied at University of Ljubljana. He worked at University of Zagreb and University of Ljubljana. His awards include Order of Freedom of the Republic of Slovenia, Boris Kidrič Fund award and Zois award.
