Karel Čapek (* 9. January 1890 in Malé Svatoňovice; † 25. December 1938 in Prague) was a tschechischer Schriftsteller. He was 48 years old. His education included Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. His faith was lapsed Catholic. His awards include Order of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, 1st class, honorary citizen of Hradec Králové and honorary citizen of Prague 10. His cause of death was pneumonia. He was buried at Vyšehrad cemetery.
