Mário Soares (* December 7, 1924 in Lisbon; † January 7, 2017 in Lisbon) was a president of Portugal. He was 92 years old. He was married to Maria Barroso. He studied at University of Lisbon. His faith was atheism. He received 9 awards, including Grand Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic, honorary doctor of the University of Rennes 2. His cause of death was stroke. He was buried at Prazeres Cemetery.
