Biography of Māris Čaklais

Māris Čaklais (* 16. June 1940 in Saldus; † 13. December 2003 in Riga) was a latvian poet. He was 63 years old. He had 3 wives. His education included Saldus vidusskola, University of Latvia and Gorky Institute of World Literature. He worked at Literatūra un Māksla (Literature and Arts), weekly, Padomju Jaunatne, Liesma and Karogs. He was awarded the Order of the Three Stars, 4th Class. His cause of death was tumor. He was buried at Forest Cemetery.
