Maximilian Kolbe (* 8. January 1894 in Zduńska Wola; † 14. August 1941 in Auschwitz) was a polnischer Franziskaner-Minorit, Märtyrer, Heiliger. He was 47 years old. He studied at Pontifical Gregorian University. His faith was Catholicism. He received 5 awards, including Cross of Independence with Swords, Gold Cross of the Virtuti Militari. His cause of death was lethal injection.
