Ousmane Sembène (* January 1, 1923 in Ziguinchor; † June 9, 2007 in Dakar) was a senegalese film director, producer, screenwriter, actor, and author. He was 84 years old. He studied at Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography. He received 5 awards, including Carrosse d'or, Prix Jean Vigo. He was buried at Yoff.
