Rainis (* 30. August 1865 in Varslavani; † 12. September 1929 in Jūrmala) was a lettischer Schriftsteller. He was 64 years old. His education included Riga State Gymnasium No.1, Imperial St. Petersburg University and Saint Petersburg State University. His awards include Order of the Three Stars, 1st Class and Order of the Three Stars. He was buried at Rainis Cemetery.
