René Girard (* December 25, 1923 in Avignon; † November 4, 2015 in Stanford) was a french historian, literary critic, and philosopher of social science. He was 91 years old. His education included École des chartes and Indiana University Bloomington. His faith was Catholicism. He received 9 awards, including Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres, Guggenheim Fellowship. His cause of death was disease.
