Shohei Imamura (* September 15, 1926 in Tokyo; † May 30, 2006 in Tokyo) was a japanese film director. He was 79 years old. He studied at Waseda University. He received 8 awards, including Japan Academy Prize for Director of the Year, Mainichi Film Award for Best Screenplay. His cause of death was liver cancer.
