His education included Northwestern University, Senn High School, East High School, Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences and Northwestern University. His faith was Judaism. He received 4 awards, including Academy Award for Best Writing, Original Screenplay, star on Hollywood Walk of Fame. His cause of death was pneumonia.
