Vernor Vinge (* October 2, 1944 in Waukesha; † March 20, 2024 in La Jolla) was an american mathematician, computer scientist, and science fiction writer. He was 79 years old. He was married to Joan D. Vinge. His education included University of California, San Diego, Michigan State University and San Diego State University. He received 7 awards, including Prometheus Award, Hugo Award for Best Novel.
