Biography of Walter Gropius

Walter Gropius (* 18. May 1883 in Berlin; † 5. July 1969 in Boston) was a deutscher Architekt und der Gründer des Bauhauses. He was 86 years old. He was married to Alma Mahler-Werfel and Ise Gropius. He had at least 1 child (1 daughter). He worked at Harvard University, Black Mountain College and Bauhaus. He received 7 awards, including Knight Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, Royal Gold Medal. He was buried at Südwestkirchhof Stahnsdorf.
