Whitney Smith (* February 26, 1940 in Arlington; † November 17, 2016 in Peabody) was a founder of vexillology, the study of flags. He was 76 years old. His education included Boston University, Harvard University and Boston University College of Arts and Sciences. He was awarded the Fellow of the Federation.
