William Standish Knowles (* 1. June 1917 in Taunton; † 13. June 2012 in Chesterfield) was an american chemist. He was 95 years old. His education included Berkshire School, Harvard University, Columbia University and Phillips Academy. His awards include Nobel Prize in Chemistry, Chemical Pioneer Award and ACS Award for Creative Invention. His cause of death was amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
