William Thurston (* October 30, 1946 in Washington, D.C.; † August 21, 2012 in Rochester) was an american mathematician. He was 65 years old. His education included University of California, Berkeley and New College of Florida. He received 6 awards, including Oswald Veblen Prize in Geometry, Alan T. Waterman Award. His cause of death was cancer.
