Biography of Alexander Markowitsch Ostrowski

Alexander Markowitsch Ostrowski (* 12. September 1893 in Kyiv; † 20. November 1986 in Montagnola) was a russisch-deutsch-schweizerischer Mathematiker. He was 93 years old. His education included University of Marburg and University of Göttingen. He worked at University of Hamburg, University of Göttingen and University of Basel. He was awarded the honorary doctor of the Marie and Louis Pasteur University. He was buried at Sant'Abbondio Cemetery in Gentilino.
